Trade Fairs, Events & Sights
Berlin offers many sights and cultural events. Therefore on this page only a few
events can be offered.
The Brandenburg Gate was built in its present form in 1791 by Carl
Gotthard Langhans with the Propylaea in Athens as his model. On top of the
gate stands the Quadriga by Schadow which Napoleon took away and
General Blücher brought back triumphantly.

The architects Ralf Schüler and Ursulina Schüler-Witte create a multifunctual communication centre,
which is one of the most outstanding building of the German post-war period. Till today it serves as
a standard for many new congress centres all over the world.

After the building of the Wall in 1961 Friedrichstrasse became well-known
over the next 29 years because of the allied Checkpoint Charlie,
the symbol for the absurd division and complicated international status of the city.
